Logistics Dispatcher: 
This individual is responsible for planning and executing flatbed transportation services from vendor shipping to stores and to third-party cross-dock facilities, ensuring on time delivery at an appropriate cost and service level.
 
Job Type: Full-time
 
Responsibilities:
  • Organize and coordinate the transportation of building materials via common carrier truck across the U.S.
  • Establish/maintain/grow relationships with key transportation vendors including: Daily phone calls and electronic communication to define spot market rates and transact bookings; Identify additional capacity loads for expanding trading business; Visit with key carriers
  • Perform spot market basis booking, using DAT.
  • Evaluate market conditions and negotiate/set rates accordingly for freight forwarding
  • Communicate transportation market trends/rates to sales staff throughout the day/week/month
  • Take and act upon requests for tracing and/or expediting flatbed shipments
  • Selective use of technology tools to aid in transactional freight bookings
  • Aggressively prospect for new flatbed carriers
  • Identify and improve haulage efficiency in less developed transportation lanes
  • Resolve supplier and customer transportation-related problems
  • Work as part of a team of logistics personnel in eliminating “late loads” of lumber, steel, and/or other machinery
  • Negotiate solutions for all transportation related claims in a timely manner
