Carrier Sales Representative
Our client is seeking an experienced and professional Carrier Sales Representative to perform the following job functions, and communicate clearly and courteously at all times.

Job Type: Full-time

Responsibilities:

• Negotiate contract and spot market lanes with carriers.
• Build effective long-term relationships with carriers, customers, and teammates.
• Sell carriers on lanes, round trips, quick pay and other areas in which the company can improve margins and carrier relationships.
• Collaborate with carriers to help maximize their revenue with fuel advances, quick pay, round trips.
• Oversee the coverage of the customer’s freight - ensure loads are covered timely.
• Define work based on evaluation of short- and long-term goals of the team.
• Responsible for Volume, Revenue and Margin for accounts and team participation.
• Develop preferred Carrier lists.
• Develop market capacity.
• Develop market rates based on capacity and service solutions.
  • Drop trailers.
  • Higher cargo requirements.
  • Dispatch drivers based on accounts needs and requirements.
  • Driver instructions such as:
    • Explain Requirements by account or by load.
    • Ensure drivers use Load Track from Trucker Tools for all loads.
    • Educate them on meeting customers’ requirements.
• Work under limited supervision, must be driven and competitive and be highly responsible.
• Participates in on-call after hours, and weekend rotations as determined based on operation needs.
• Hold carriers accountable for POD’s, Capacity, Driver information, truck and trailer, tracking acceptance and service commitments.
• May have to assist when needed with data entry, covering for account representative or logistics coordinator duties.

Experience:

• A high school diploma is required, and some college course work is a plus.
• Able to apply broad work experience and knowledge when analyzing complex problems.
• Meet stringent deadlines and work in a high-pressure environment.
• Work under limited supervision: must be driven, competitive, and highly responsible. Demonstrate professionalism all times and perform duties as assigned: must be dependable and flexible.
• Consistently identify critical elements, variables, and alternatives to develop solutions.
• Manage multiple calls on multiple lines and multitask.
• Organize and prioritize existing resources and incorporate new information as needed to implement the most effective solutions required.
• Understand and use technology: must be familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook able to become proficient with new applications in a timely manner.
• Preferred:
  • A minimum of one year of logistics, dispatch, or related experience
  • Knowledge of effective customer service skills and techniques.
  • Working knowledge of TMS (Transportation Management System) (McLeod Preferably)
