Position Summary
Our client is seeking a hands-on logistics leader to oversee freight operations across the U.S. and Mexico. This individual will manage approximately $12M–$15M in annual freight spend and lead efforts to reduce transportation costs, strengthen carrier performance, and improve load and routing efficiency.

The ideal candidate understands the day-to-day execution of a freight operation but also brings the initiative to challenge existing processes, negotiate aggressively, and identify opportunities for meaningful cost savings.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead day-to-day freight and logistics operations across the U.S. and Mexico, including oversight of team members supporting dispatch, invoicing, and shipment execution.
  • Manage approximately $12M–$15M in annual freight spend with a strong focus on cost reduction and operational efficiency.
  • Negotiate rates and terms with carriers and brokers and identify new transportation partners as needed.
  • Manage carrier relationships and performance to ensure competitive pricing, capacity, service, and reliability.
  • Analyze freight data, rates, lanes, and shipment activity to identify cost-saving and process improvement opportunities.
  • Optimize routing, load planning, shipment consolidation, and trailer utilization to reduce costs and maximize capacity.
  • Partner closely with shipping and operations teams to improve load configuration and overall freight execution.
  • Coordinate logistics activities and processes between U.S. and Mexico operations.
  • Develop and improve standard operating procedures, reporting, and key logistics metrics.
  • Collaborate with production, sales, customer service, finance, and leadership to support customer and operational needs.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable transportation regulations and company requirements.
Experience:
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in transportation, freight management, logistics, or a related field.
  • Proven experience managing day-to-day freight operations and significant transportation spend.
  • Strong carrier negotiation and relationship management experience with a track record of identifying freight cost savings.
  • Experience with routing, load planning, carrier selection, and transportation cost management.
  • Experience leading logistics, transportation, or dispatch team members.
  • Cross-border U.S./Mexico transportation experience or knowledge strongly preferred.
  • Truckload transportation experience required.
  • Experience within manufacturing, distribution, transportation, or third-party logistics environments.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Experience with transportation management systems (TMS) and proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, logistics, supply chain, or a related field preferred.
  • Spanish-language skills are a plus.
