Job Title: Carrier Sales Representative

Job Type: Full-time; On-site

Responsibilities:
  • Prospect, vet, onboard, and retain reliable, high-quality refrigerated carriers across key freight lanes.
  • Match available temperature-controlled freight with vetted carrier partners to achieve 100% load coverage daily.
  • Negotiate competitive, market-driven spot and contract rates with carriers to maximize margin while protecting service levels.
  • Anticipate seasonal reefer market shifts, produce harvests, and capacity pinches to ensure continuous truck availability.
  • Oversee shipments from initial load booking and carrier assignment through to final delivery, proof of delivery (POD) collection, and billing handoff.
  • Verify pre-cooling procedures, setpoint temperatures, continuous running/cycle requirements, and reefer unit operational status before and during transit.
  • Perform real-time check calls, monitor GPS/tracking feeds, and proactively manage transit exceptions (e.g., delays, equipment breakdowns, temperature excursions).
  • Promptly and accurately answer high volumes of internal (sales, account managers) and external (drivers, dispatchers, customers) calls and emails.
  • Serve as the first line of escalation for transit issues, re-routings, claim prevention, and receiver appointment shifts, maintaining transparency and composure under pressure.
  • Partner closely with internal account executives to align operational execution with customer expectations.
  • Daily utilization of McLeod Software to build loads, issue rate confirmations, track transit milestones, manage carrier profiles, and log operational notes.
  • Ensure data integrity across all internal systems and external tracking portals.

Experience:
  • 3–5+ years of experience in freight brokerage operations, carrier sales, or dispatching (experience with refrigerated/reefer freight is strictly required).
  • Software: 5+ years of hands-on experience with McLeod Software preferred.
  • Deep understanding of spot market dynamics, reefer equipment specifications, cold-chain regulatory standards, and carrier compliance requirements.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with a customer-first attitude.
  • High sense of urgency, strong multitasking abilities, and a calm, decisive approach when resolving high-pressure logistics challenges.
