The Position
Job Title: Director of Operations
Job Type: Full-time; On-Site
Responsibilities:
- Lead by example and model the Company’s expected standards of behavior. Champion the Company’s vision, mission, and strategic priorities to all employees and stakeholders.

- Partner with Human Resources to promote robust employee relations.
- Partner with Quality Control to promote and sustain a strong culture of safety across all operations.
- Build organizational capability through leadership development, succession planning, and talent management.
- Promote collaboration and best practice sharing across facilities.
- Provide strategic oversight for all warehouse operations across multiple facilities. Ensure operational consistency and execution of best practices related to all warehousing operations, including value-added services.
- Establish operational priorities and monitor facility performance through monitoring of key performance indicators (KPIs). Develop and oversee strategies to reduce variances to target when necessary.
- Ensure consistent execution of Company operating procedures and policies across all facilities.
- Identify operational improvement opportunities and lead initiatives that drive productivity, safety, customer service, and financial performance.
- Partner with the Corporate Engineering team to optimize warehouse design, automation initiatives, labor utilization, and space efficiency.
- Partner with the Business Development team to develop pricing and operational models for sales presentations.
- Ensure all client commitments are fulfilled and that best-in-class practices are followed for safety, material handling, and inventory management.
- Lead all Company safety initiatives and maintain an uncompromising culture of safety.
- Ensure full compliance with OSHA, FDA, and company safety requirements.
- Partner with Quality Assurance department colleagues to oversee all safety and food safety
- programs in order to mitigate risks and ensure ongoing compliance.
- Financial & Business Management
- Partner with General Managers and Finance department colleagues to develop annual operating budgets, forecasts, financial reports, and capital expenditure plans.
- On an ongoing basis, monitor labor, productivity, revenue, and operating expenses across all assigned facilities to ensure alignment to budget. Work with General Managers to develop corrective action plans as may be necessary.
- Analyze overall financial and operational trends and implement strategies to improve margins and maximize return on investment.
- Build and maintain executive-level relationships with key customers.
- Partner with the Business Development team to support new business initiatives, customer onboarding, contract renewals, and marketing efforts.
- Participate in customer business reviews and ensure timely resolution of operational Issues.
- Develop a strong understanding of the communities in which the Company operates and represent the Company effectively with vendors, government agencies, community leaders, and potential employees.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and development to General Managers, ensuring continuous skill growth.
- Hold General Managers accountable for their respective team’s development and performance.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and establish measurable development plans.
- Ensure leadership succession planning across all assigned facilities.
- Promote employee engagement, retention, and leadership development initiatives.
- Partner with Human Resources on organizational planning efforts and workforce strategy.
- This position directly oversees a team of General Managers with their respective subordinate staff and functions across several facilities.
Experience:
- Hold a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Transportation, Engineering, or a similar degree with a concentration in Business Management.
- Have ten (10) or more years of experience as a manager or director in a distribution center environment.
- Be computer literate with a focus on Radio-Frequency (RF) and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) experience.
- Have the ability to manage the financial processes of multiple operations (monitoring expenses, financial reporting, purchasing, budget preparation).
- Extensive supply chain process experience; including inbound receiving, storage, retrieval (full pallets, case pick, layer pick), shipping, transportation, value-added services, etc.
- A background in operational and food-safety programs, including BRC-certification requirements as well as OSHA and FDA requirements is preferred.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills including the ability to persuade, influence, negotiate, and make formal presentations to a variety of audiences, including executives, corporate colleagues, customers, etc. is required.
- Ability to analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to compose reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively communicate information in verbal or written format using the English language and effectively respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, employees, customers and the general public.
- Ability to comprehend complex mathematical concepts.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
- Ability to correctly read, interpret, and process lengthy strings of individual digits in their correct order.
- Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages.
- Ability to generate, read, process, and comprehend complex spreadsheets with large numerical strings and equations.
- Must possess strong leadership, communication skills, people skills, and highly developed reasoning and analytical skills.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to process and resolve problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Ability to provide effective leadership to subordinate staff.
- Ability to analyze the implications of individual decisions as they relate to broader Company objectives.
