Business Development Manager, Freight Brokerage
   
Job Type: Full-time; On-site

Responsibilities:
  • Recruit, train, and manage Freight Brokerage Account Executives (AEs), and monitor the AE sales activity, and provide ongoing feedback and performance reporting. 
  • Participate in the development of long-term strategic sales goals, build key customer relationships, identify business opportunities, and maintain extensive knowledge of current market conditions.
  • Coach Direct Reports to meet Performance and Behavioral expectations.
  • Schedule and maintain training programs, develop and modify training sessions as needed, deliver training sessions, and document training records.
  • Facilitate training sessions covering systems, industry information, and sales skills.
  • Assess the effectiveness of training and offer alternative solutions to ensure company objectives are met.
  • Develop and maintain training manuals and tools to support training programs.
  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of industry.
  • Analyze and determine training needs for the staff.
  • Train AEs on Company sales call requirements.
  • Work with Operations Account Managers on sales challenges with existing customers on enhancing products and services.
  • Arrange and participate in internal and external client debriefs.
  • Using knowledge of the market and competitors, identify and develop the company’s unique selling propositions and differentiators.
  • Submit weekly progress reports and ensure data is accurate.
  • Forecast sales targets and ensure they are met by the team
  • Track and record activity on accounts and help to close deals to meet these targets.
  • Attain predetermined performance metrics as outlined by their manager
  • All other duties as assigned by supervisor, but remember, we work as a team to get the job done
Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 3-5+ years of sales experience in the freight brokerage industry
  • License or Certification: Certified Transportation Broker (CTB)
  • Travel requirements: Occasionally
  • Must be humble, stay hungry and live smart
