Director of Brokerage Sales & Operations


Job Type: Full-time; Onsite

Responsibilities:
  • Drive new business development across brokerage services (FTL, LTL, specialized freight)
  • Build and manage a personal book of business as a primary revenue generator
  • Develop and execute strategic sales plans to penetrate target markets
  • Leverage existing relationships and industry knowledge to accelerate growth
  • Sell value-driven logistics solutions, focusing on long-term partnerships
  • Identify and close opportunities within specialized verticals (HazMat, Pharma, etc.)
  • Build, hire, and lead a high-performing brokerage team
  • Coach and mentor team members on sales strategy, negotiation, and execution
  • Establish and track KPIs, metrics, and performance standards
  • Foster a results-driven, accountable sales culture
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure operational excellence and service delivery
  • Develop and execute the overall brokerage growth strategy
  • Stay ahead of market trends, pricing, and capacity fluctuations
  • Implement and improve processes, tools, and systems to support scalability
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on brokerage operations and industry trends
Experience:
  • 5–10+ years of experience in freight brokerage / 3PL sales
  • Proven track record of building and growing a book of business
  • Experience in a leadership or player/coach capacity
  • Strong understanding of brokerage operations, pricing, and market dynamics
  • Experience within HazMat and/or Pharmaceutical logistics is a plus
  • Background in building or scaling a brokerage team or division
  • Entrepreneurial, ownership mindset with a drive to build and grow
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to develop and influence others
  • Polished communicator with strong negotiation and client-facing skills
  • Adaptable and effective in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Strategic thinker who can translate market insights into actionable growth plans
