Job Title: National Director of LTL Strategy & Optimization
Job Type: Full-time; On-site
Responsibilities:
• Serve as the LTL subject matter expert across the U.S. network, supporting ~25 branches• Partner with Branch Managers to optimize linehaul planning, routing, and freight consolidation
• Analyze current operations and proactively identify opportunities to improve efficiency and margins
• Drive improvements in network design, equipment utilization, and cross-dock flow
• Support the execution of cost-effective, service-driven linehaul strategies across a national footprint
• Act as a coach and advisor to developing operational leaders (no direct reports)
• Collaborate closely with the President of Transport (Americas) on strategic initiatives
• Travel to branch locations (~25%) to assess operations and provide hands-on support
• Balance big-picture network strategy with practical, on-the-ground operational improvements
• Uphold and reinforce Mainfreight’s culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement
Experience:
• 7+ years of experience within asset-based LTL operations (required)• Background in roles such as Terminal Manager, Linehaul Manager, or Branch Manager
• Strong expertise in linehaul optimization, routing strategy, and network planning
• Proven ability to improve operational efficiency and drive margin performance
• Experience working within a multi-site or national LTL network preferred
• Demonstrated ability to influence and lead without direct authority
• High level of business acumen and commercial mindset
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive, self-directed approach
• Cultural alignment with a flat, non-corporate, high-accountability environment
• Desire for long-term growth and leadership development within the organization (not a short-term role)
