Senior Manager, Transportation Brokerage
Our client is seeking a highly driven and experienced Senior Manager, Transportation Brokerage to lead and scale their brokerage operations. This role is accountable for building the brokerage team, processes, and carrier network while delivering excellent service to customers across multiple verticals. The ideal candidate brings a strong commercial mindset, deep transportation experience, and a desire to help evolve the company into a leading 3PL.

Responsibilities:
  • Build and lead the transportation brokerage team, including account managers, carrier sales, and support staff.
  • Define and execute the strategic vision for brokerage services with a long-term view toward developing a full-service 3PL.
  • Own performance metrics related to margin, service, and growth, drive accountability across the team.
  • Partner with internal departments (IT, Sales, Finance, Compliance) to ensure alignment and execution.
  • Oversee daily freight brokerage operations: carrier procurement, load matching, rate negotiations, and issue resolution.
  • Develop and optimize operating procedures and SOPs across brokerage operations.
  • Manage TMS workflows and ensure system adherence and operational efficiency.
  • Monitor load lifecycle to ensure exceptional customer service and delivery execution.
  • Build and nurture a robust, compliant carrier network aligned with our client’s service and safety standards.
  • Negotiate competitive rates while protecting margins and ensuring service quality.
  • Monitor and improve carrier performance using scorecards and service data.
  • Support customer onboarding and retention efforts by providing reliable, scalable transportation solutions.
  • Collaborate with the Business Development team to identify and execute new brokerage opportunities.
  • Respond to spot and contractual freight needs with speed, accuracy, and professionalism.

Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in freight brokerage, logistics, or transportation management.
  • 2+ years in a supervisory or leadership role with proven results in team performance and margin management.
  • Deep understanding of brokerage P&L, carrier negotiations, and load lifecycle management.
  • Experience with TMS platforms (e.g., Dispatch Science, Beareare, PCS, etc.) and data/reporting tools.
  • High sense of urgency, entrepreneurial mindset, and a commitment to service excellence.
