Safety Manager
The Safety Manager will be responsible for the efficient safety tracking of our client’s drivers and meeting DOT requirements as well as applicable state laws and FMCSA guidelines. Will interact with drivers, other operations personnel (including Dispatch, Customer Service, Repair Shop, Warehouse, Import/Export, Human Resource, and Executive) departments. Monitoring of drivers will be done through the company’s dispatch software Profit Tools, Samsara, and Disc Mobile interfaces. The successful candidate will be able to work with all drivers by implementing and complying with all governing safety laws and tracking any
violations, while taking in to account the driver safety status and his/her personal life components.

Responsibilities:
  • Assure Drug & Alcohol programs are compliant with DOT regulations.
  • Monitoring safety performance and developing strategies for continuous improvement.
  • Developing and implementing safety programs, policies and procedures.
  • Build the driver’s qualification file and maintain necessary documents throughout employment.
  • Manage Drivers Hours of Service.
  • Monitoring CSA basic scores to address trends, and driver performance.
  • Ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations.
  • Providing training and education.
  • Collaborating with Insurance providers to manage claims and reduce costs.
  • Representing the company in traffic court for ticket violations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Experience:
  • 5+ years of demonstrated history of Intermodal Safety Management with an excellent working understanding of rail procedures.
  • Working knowledge of Intermodal, Railroad, and Steamship Container Industries as well as the rails and depots our client frequents most.
  • Understand FMCSA rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of Clearinghouse requirements.
  • Must have current, excellent knowledge of all related DOT, state & federal regulations/laws.
  • This position manages assigned drivers and is responsible for the performance management and ongoing documentation of the Drivers.
  • Working knowledge of SAP program policies and procedures.
  • Should have knowledge of general dispatch software.
  • Knowledge of Samsara: electronic logging devices.
  • Knowledge of IFTA reporting.
  • Computer skills: must be proficient level.
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills, as well as a strong attention to detail.
  • Flexibility to work as needed.
  • Excellent multi-tasking and organizational skills.
