Responsibilities:
- Develop new shipper relationships through prospecting and industry networking
- Negotiate rates directly with shippers and secure contractual freight opportunities
- Identify cross-selling opportunities (LTL, FTL, intermodal, expedited, drayage, etc.)
- Prepare pricing proposals, bids, and RFP responses
- Build and maintain a strong network of vetted carriers
- Negotiate competitive buy rates while maintaining service quality
- Ensure carrier compliance (insurance, authority, safety ratings)
- Coordinate freight movement from tender through delivery
- Track shipments proactively and resolve service issues in real time
- Manage appointment scheduling, detention, lumper fees, and accessorials
- Maintain accurate documentation (BOLs, rate confirmations, PODs)
- Work closely with dispatch, accounting, and claims departments
Experience:
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience in logistics, transportation, or a related industry
- Strong understanding of the current logistics market, including capacity trends, pricing dynamics, and carrier networks
- Highly competitive and goal-driven, with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding performance targets
- Demonstrated experience sourcing, qualifying, and vetting carriers to ensure service reliability and compliance
- Proven ability to identify cross-selling opportunities and drive account expansion through strategic relationship management
