Logistics Controller
Our client is currently one of the largest and most sophisticated intermodal trucking providers in the US. Along with their highly dedicated drayage specialists, they are committed to providing their customers with 100% satisfaction both on On-Time delivery and customer communication. Our client specializes in the transportation of Import and Export Ocean Containers (FCL) out of all the US ports with a very strong presence in the Port of NY and NJ region.Logistics Controller
Job Type: Full-time; Onsite
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain all internal financial controls and procedures, including budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Review monthly P&L financial statements with senior leadership.
- Full control of all company spending, including carrier vendors, equipment, real estate, insurance, and other expenditures.
- Gain a thorough understanding of the company’s pricing methodologies, lane quoting processes, and handle all client RFPs.
- Ensure that there are SOPs in place for all AR/AP processes (different clients have different SOPs).
- Ensure that the chart of accounts in QuickBooks is clearly defined and categorized for easy visibility of spend and P&L by account.
- Analyze trends, variances, and opportunities to improve financial performance.
- Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes.
- Monitor cash flow, working capital, and financial risk.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff.
- Partner with leadership on strategic planning and growth initiatives.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, and at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Familiarity with software development processes and terminology sufficient to coordinate effectively with engineering teams.
- Extensive knowledge of all Microsoft Excel functions is a must.
- Experience with QuickBooks and financial reporting best practices.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Proven leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume logistics/transportation environment (drayage or trucking industry experience a plus).
