Financial Analyst - Trucking Operations

Job Type: Full-time; On-site

Responsibilities:
  • Analyze revenue, costs, and profitability across OTR, regional, local, and dedicated operations.
  • Develop and maintain financial models to forecast performance, evaluate pricing strategies, and assess operational efficiencies.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), such as cost per mile, revenue per truck, driver utilization, fuel program including efficiency, and maintenance expenses.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports and variance analyses.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
  • Partner with operations and dispatch teams to analyze route profitability, equipment utilization, and driver productivity.
  • Perform ad hoc financial analysis to support business cases, capital expenditures, and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Assist in the development and improvement of financial systems, processes, and internal controls.
  • Conduct trend analysis to identify operational risks and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the accounting team to ensure accurate financial reporting and proper expense categorization.

Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field (MBA or CPA a plus).
  • 3+ years of experience as a financial analyst in transportation, logistics, or a related industry.
  • Strong understanding of west coast trucking operations, including OTR, regional, local, and dedicated service lines.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling and data analysis using Excel; experience with ERP systems and BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Optym) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of industry metrics such as cost per mile, RPM (revenue per mile), and load profitability.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
