Director of Ocean Export Operations – LCL Consolidation
Job Type: Full-time; On-site
Responsibilities:
- 1. Operational Leadership
- Supervise day-to-day ocean freight (FCL/LCL) operations
- Ensure proper file management, billing accuracy, and timely closing of files working with both operation staff and finance team .
- Monitor KPIs (open files, margins, DSO, documentation compliance)
- Oversee booking management with shipping lines
- Manage Caribbean and international lanes , improve KPI on consolidations containers.
- Ensure compliance with FMC, CBP, TSA and international trade regulations
- Support warehouse coordination and consolidation activities
- 2. Commercial Development
- Identify new business opportunities within existing lanes
- Support pricing strategy and rate negotiations with pricing department and management
- Work closely with overseas agents and partners to improve service provided
- Monitor market trends and carrier rate fluctuations
- 3. Administrative & Financial Oversight
- Oversee margin control and file profitability before reporting to VP
- Supervise billing and ensure revenue capture
- Coordinate with accounting for reconciliations and accruals
- Improve SOP implementation and internal process control
- 4. Team Management
- Supervise operations staff
- Improve structured weekly reporting
- Improve organization and accountability
- Act as escalation point for operational issues
Experience:
- Minimum 8 years of experience in freight forwarding or NVOCC
- Strong ocean freight knowledge (FCL/LCL both required)
- Experience managing customer accounts and contract negotiations
- Familiar with FMC regulations and U.S. customs environment as well as TSA
- Experience with ERP systems (Magaya preferred)
- Strong understanding of P&L and margin management
