Job Type: Full-time; On-site
Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily dispatch operations for multiple regions (Chicagoland and Northern Indiana), ensuring deliveries are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
- Monitor route execution and adjust as needed to minimize driver overtime and maximize productivity.
- Review driver performance and route data daily to identify inefficiencies and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain oversight of internal fuel deliveries to bulk plants and cardlocks to prevent overfills, outdated pricing, or unnecessary product movement.
- Lead and mentor a team of three dispatchers, ensuring consistent communication, accountability, and operational discipline.
- Promote a culture of accuracy, responsiveness, and proactive problem-solving within the dispatch team.
- Work collaboratively with other department managers (Drivers, Service, Sales, Fleet, Billing, and Accounting) to maintain transparency and eliminate silos between teams.
- Provide training and coaching to help dispatchers better utilize tools and systems that support route planning and communication.
- Serve as the primary communication link between routes, dispatchers, and management.
- Ensure all communication and instructions are fact-based, clearly
documented, and complete before being relayed to others. - Provide daily summaries to leadership on driver hours, route
adjustments, and delivery performance. - Proactively develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) and long-term solutions when recurring issues or communication gaps arise.
- Use route and profitability data to assess driver performance, identify improvement opportunities, and learn from trends.
- Collaborate with leadership and other managers to refine scheduling, routing, and fuel management processes.
- Leverage available technology and tools to streamline dispatch
workflows and enhance efficiency across operations. - Ensure all dispatch activities comply with DOT, OSHA, and company safety regulations.
- Enforce proper documentation and communication standards for
driver activity and route performance.
- Proven working experience in liquid commodity logistics or supply chain management.
- Previous dispatch experience in a liquid commodity or similar operational environment.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, train, and manage a dispatch team.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and decision-making skills with a basic understanding of route data and profitability analysis.
- Solid understanding of dispatching software, GPS tracking, and routing tools.
- Comfortable using technology to improve efficiency and communication.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and prevent operational silos.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
