Customer Service Representative - Carrier Focused (Remote)
Our client is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Customer Service Representative to join their team in the scrap and recycling industry. The ideal candidate will act as a liaison between customers and internal teams, ensuring the highest level of service is delivered. This position requires excellent communication skills, a solid understanding of industry practices, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the first point of contact for customer inquiries via phone, email, and text.
  • Provide accurate information regarding scrap pricing, accepted materials, and company policies.
  • Create and manage customer loads, pickups, and delivery schedules.
  • Coordinate with dispatch, yard, and sales teams to ensure timely service and accurate documentation.
  • Resolve customer complaints and issues promptly, escalating when necessary.
  • Maintain detailed records of customer interactions, transactions, comments, and complaints.
  • Assist in maintaining customer accounts, including billing inquiries and payment processing.
  • Stay informed on current market trends and pricing in the scrap industry.
  • Support administrative tasks such as data entry, report generation, and filing as needed.
Experience:
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree is required.
  • 2+ years of experience in customer service; experience in the scrap or recycling industry is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with industry-specific software is a plus.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with materials commonly handled in scrap operations (e.g., ferrous, non-ferrous metals) is an asset.
