Manager, Equipment Control
Job Type: Full-time; On-site
Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day operations of the equipment control staff.
- Coordinate with terminals for equipment release and return, and address chassis issues with local vendors and customers.
- Proactively monitor terminal inventory to avoid shutouts, establish recovery procedures, and address empty return complaints.
- Manage equipment inventory and repositioning arrangements.
- Ensure adherence to work procedures and schedules, and take corrective action as needed.
- Prepare and analyze weekly performance reports for management.
- Coordinate and resolve equipment control/operations service issues with COSCO offices and operations worldwide, customers, and vendors.
- Direct, correct, address, and monitor performance of staff; document and issue disciplinary actions as needed.
- Ensure adherence to the collective bargaining agreement, including timely investigation of grievances.
- Manage union workforce, including contractual work practices, discipline, and grievance resolution.
- Foster a team environment and demonstrate strong leadership skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, International Business, or related field.
- 2-5 years of relevant professional experience in operations, customer service in international ocean/shipping.
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of equipment and terminal operations.
- Familiarity with US Customs regulations, USCG regulations, and applicable Port operating rules and regulations.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency with systems (e.g., Microsoft products, warehouse management systems).
