Manager, Equipment Control
   
Job Type: Full-time; On-site

Responsibilities:
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the equipment control staff.
  • Coordinate with terminals for equipment release and return, and address chassis issues with local vendors and customers.
  • Proactively monitor terminal inventory to avoid shutouts, establish recovery procedures, and address empty return complaints.
  • Manage equipment inventory and repositioning arrangements.
  • Ensure adherence to work procedures and schedules, and take corrective action as needed.
  • Prepare and analyze weekly performance reports for management.
  • Coordinate and resolve equipment control/operations service issues with COSCO offices and operations worldwide, customers, and vendors.
  • Direct, correct, address, and monitor performance of staff; document and issue disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Ensure adherence to the collective bargaining agreement, including timely investigation of grievances.
  • Manage union workforce, including contractual work practices, discipline, and grievance resolution.
  • Foster a team environment and demonstrate strong leadership skills.
Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, International Business, or related field.
  • 2-5 years of relevant professional experience in operations, customer service in international ocean/shipping.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of equipment and terminal operations.
  • Familiarity with US Customs regulations, USCG regulations, and applicable Port operating rules and regulations.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency with systems (e.g., Microsoft products, warehouse management systems).
  • Strong candidates are assertive, adaptable, and resilient.
  • Must be a self-starter, resourceful, and solution-oriented.
  • Strong multi-tasking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
