Job Type: Full-time; On-site
Responsibilities:
- Schedule, track, and manage shipments from origin to destination, ensuring timely deliveries and accurate documentation. Communicate with carriers to confirm schedules, track load statuses, and resolve shipping issues.
- Provide excellent service by responding to inquiries, giving shipment status updates, and addressing concerns. Collaborate with sales and account management teams for seamless issue resolution.
- Oversee daily brokerage or logistics operations, including load planning, carrier procurement, dispatch, and support staff coordination.
- Manage, mentor, and coach a team of coordinators, dispatchers, and support staff to achieve operational excellence.
- Develop and implement operational policies, procedures, and best practices to maximize efficiency, profitability, and service quality. Identify process improvement opportunities and leverage technology to streamline operations.
- Track KPIs such as margins, service levels, carrier utilization, and on-time performance, implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Negotiate rates and contracts with carriers while maintaining strong relationships and ensuring service reliability.
- Ensure shipments and operations comply with all federal, state, and industry regulations.
- Prepare and maintain shipping documentation, input data into logistics management systems, and generate reports for internal and client purposes.
- Basic knowledge of logistics and supply chain operations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Experience or internship in logistics, transportation, or supply chain management.
- Familiarity with transportation management systems (TMS) and other logistics software.
- Previous experience in operational leadership or managing a logistics team.
- Proven ability to develop processes and drive operational improvements.
- Strong organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Attention to detail and the ability to spot discrepancies or issues.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
