Licensed Customs Broker - Footwear
Our client is seeking an experienced Licensed Customs Broker - Footwear to join their growing team.

Job Type: Full-time/hybrid

Responsibilities:
  • Identify HTS Codes:
    • Use advanced analytical tools and databases to ensure accurate HTS classification.
    • Engage in continuous training to stay updated with changes in the General Rules of Interpretation.
  • Maintain Compliance:
    • Develop and implement compliance strategies to ensure adherence to CBP and other government regulations.
    • Collaborate with legal teams to address compliance issues proactively.
  • Update Classification Database:
    • Regularly audit the Harmonized Classification Database to ensure data integrity.
    • Implement automation for database updates to reduce manual errors.
  • Properly Classify Products:
    • Conduct detailed analysis of product specifications, IFI, and physical samples to determine correct HTS codes.
    • Engage with product development teams to understand new product lines and their classification requirements.
  • Ensure Compliance with U.S. Import Regulations:
    • Lead compliance training sessions for internal teams to ensure everyone is aware of import regulations.
    • Develop comprehensive checklists and guidelines for import compliance.
  • Follow Internal Controls:
    • Implement a robust internal audit process to regularly review compliance with import/export regulations.
    • Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of internal controls.
  • Perform Periodic Audits:
    • Use advanced data analytics to identify trends and potential areas of non- compliance in import/export transactions.
    • Report audit findings to senior management with recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Vendor and Supplier Management:
    • Work closely with vendors and suppliers to ensure they comply with all U.S. import regulations.
    • Conduct periodic assessments of vendor compliance practices.
  • Documentation Management:
    • Oversee the preparation and submission of all required documentation for import/export activities.
    • Ensure accurate record-keeping and archiving of all compliance-related documents.
  • Risk Management:
    • Develop and implement risk management strategies to mitigate potential compliance risks.
    • Conduct regular risk assessments and update risk management plans accordingly.

Experience:
  • Advanced Analytical Skills:
  • Proficiency in using data analytics tools to analyze and interpret complex data sets related to import/export activities.
  • Experience with predictive analytics for compliance forecasting.
  • Project Management:
  • Proven experience in managing large-scale compliance projects from initiation to completion.
  • Certification in project management (e.g., PMP) is a plus.
  • Legal Knowledge:
  • Basic understanding of international trade law and its implications on import/export activities.
  • Experience working with legal teams to resolve compliance issues.
  • Communication Skills:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with internal teams, vendors, and regulatory authorities.
  • Experience in drafting compliance reports and presenting findings to senior management.
  • Technical Proficiency:
  • Advanced proficiency in customs compliance software and tools.
  • Experience with ERP systems other than Blue Cherry is a plus.
