Intermodal/Drayage Dispatcher:
This individual will effectively and efficiently oversee that all drayage containers are delivered to customers in a timely manner. Also, will ensure that containers do not go into per diem or incur storage fees at the rail. In this role you must work with and oversee your team in the office to effectively get containers entered into the system, scheduled with customers, dispatched, empty returns to depots, and bill accordingly. In addition, overseeing all the drivers, hearing and acting on any concerns or issues that they may encounter.

Responsibilities:
  • Create a positive work atmosphere with the team.
  • Develop a plan alongside team members for the day based on what you see needs to be done on Profit Tools.
  • Develop employees (cross train).
  • Handle the day-to-day operations.  
  • Adding new business and filling the pipeline.
  • Accounting responsibilities that include invoicing and reconciling and assisting accounting in any questions. 
  • Read all emails and make sure nothing was missed by the team.
  • Request pick up numbers from specific brokers and freight forwarders for each customer.
  • Schedule delivery appointments with customers.
  • Adapt to using the company website and ensure that all information customers would want to see populated.
  • Train new hires.  
  • Oversees how many containers are at the yard and continues to avoid overflow.
  • Rail bill and street turn containers as necessary. Rules and Return guides change daily.
  • Always seeking ways to become more efficient in all processes.
  • Driver routing and dispatching drivers.
  • Monitor Profit Tools routing, ensuring all is accurate and confirmed out when complete.  
  • Track and trace all empty containers and prioritize returns based on Free Days.
  • Communicate with all customers, assisting in any way possible.
  • Manage each driver’s hours for the week.
  • Build driver relations by understanding driver’s different personalities and adapting to it.
  • Report any accidents or tickets to Safety Compliance.
Experience:  
  • Minimum 3+ years of driver dispatching experience. 
  • Previously managed 15-25 drivers.
  • Strong working knowledge of sea containers.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with truck drivers.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision.
  • Proficient math skills.
  • Excellent organizational and customer service skills.  
  • Strong multi-tasking skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills. 
  • Ability to follow and adhere to procedures and corporate policies.
